CCMT is proud to announce the launch of its Peace Mapping Directory. The first of its kind in Zimbabwe, the directory is comprised of a hard copy publication and interactive CD which maps out peace initiatives in Zimbabwe by province. Included in the publication is a contact database of the peace building organisations currently working in the sector, making it an extremely useful resource.
The process to develop the publication began almost two years ago. Whilst attempting to search for information about organisations working within the field of peace-building in Zimbabwe, it came to light that it was difficult to get a comprehensive picture of what was going on and where from one single source. Those organisations that had been approached in the quest to find this information also expressed their frustration and desire to see this gap filled. Faced with this challenge, CCMT, in partnership with NAYO (The National Association of Youth Organisations), embarked on the journey to bring the publication to life.
It all began with an extensive research exercise where provincial workshops were used to gather data from the organisations working in peace-building. Meetings bringing together stakeholders from neighbouring provinces to share ideas were also held.
The publication was officially launched on the 24th of April 2013. We are currently in the process of devising a dissemination strategy to make the publication widely available. Our vision is for this publication to be a useful resource to as many individuals and organisations in Zimbabwe as possible.
